Model worlds, a special exhibition shown at the Computerspiel Museum in Berlin, will show works of Swiss visual artist Matthias Zimmermann. His pictures directly deal with the question of the influence of games on the arts. His exploratory productions, mixing digital and analogue techniques, reflect the influence of modern landscapes on the artistic process. The vernissage takes place on May 22nd, 6pm in the presence of the artist.

For the third year, the UCLA Game Art Festival returns to the Hammer Museum Courtyard. Curated by Eddo Stern, UCLA Design Media Arts Professor, the festival will show cutting edge videogames and interactive installations for one night on May 8th 2013. It will feature artworks produced by students of the Geneva University of Arts and Design (HEAD), which were previously on view in the Game Gazer exhibition at Swissnex San Francisco, and will show results of a recent workshop involving students from Geneva and UCLA at the Game Lab.

After a huge success at the Maison d’Ailleurs, the exhibition «Playtime – Videogame mythologies» will begin its international tour at the Krasnoyarsk Cultural-Historical Museum Complex on Mai 3rd 2013. This first stop in Siberia will be followed by an exhibition at the well known Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow starting on July 18th 2013 within the framework of the Swiss made in Russia program. Developed for the GameCulture program of the Swiss Arts Council, Playtime explores the relationship between videogames, society and culture.

Chris Bergstresser, VP of Miniclip a videogamecompany  that recently established its Headquarter in Neuchâtel, talks on Switzerland, innovation, creativity and videogames.

Like every Spring, San Francisco turns into the World games capital this week. And Switzerland will be present at the IGF with the finalist Liquisketch and at the GDC Play with several Swiss game developers, such as Grooh and Krautscape selected for Best in Play Award. Swissnex San Francisco also hosts the Game Gazer, an exhibition on Swiss game design: play a backpack video console, control the expressions of a portrait, and join a shouting match—for fun!
